During service, you may want to combine smaller tables to seat larger parties. In this article, we'll show you how to pre-assign, seat, and move large parties to multiple tables.
Pre-assigning parties to multiple tables
From the Service view
To pre-assign parties to multiple tables from the Service view:

From the Reservations tab, click Service.
- Click on the right side of the guest’s reservation in the Guests list.
- On the floor plan to the right, select the tables you want to assign the reservation to. The status bar will display the combined maximum capacity of selected tables as well as coordinating colors:
- Orange - Tables have a maximum capacity lower than the reservation.
- Green - Tables have maximum capacity equal to the reservation.
- Blue - Tables have a maximum capacity higher than the reservation.
- Click the X in the left panel once the assignment is completed.
From Timeline
Note: Pre-assigning from the Timeline is only supported for businesses using Availability Planning reservation management.
To pre-assign parties to multiple tables from Timeline:
- From the Reservations tab, click Timeline.
- Select the guest’s reservation directly on the Timeline.
- Click assign to multiple tables. A status bar will appear at the top showing the combined maximum capacity of selected tables.
- Select the slots for the additional tables you want to assign the reservation to.
- Click Done in the top-right.
Seating parties assigned to multiple tables
To seat parties that have already been pre-assigned to multiple tables:

From the Timeline tab, click Service.

Click on the guest’s reservation in the Guests list.

Click Seat.
Moving seated parties to different tables
To move seated parties to different tables:
- From the Timeline tab, click Service.
- Click on the guest’s reservation in the Guests list.

Click the table assignment in the bottom-left.

On the floor plan to the right, select the new tables.

Click the X in the left panel once the assignment is completed.
