Menus and Items

You now have one place to create and manage your Menus and Items. Menus are made up of sections, items and modifiers, with items and modifiers pulling from a shared library. One item can link to multiple menus and have shared stock limits across those menus. One menu can link to one or more experiences.

  4. Create a modifier

Create your first menu

    • Click Next to get an introduction to the basic concepts of menus
  2. When you're ready, click Create menu
    1. Name your menu - this name is for your own reference and will not be visible to guests Screen_Shot_2021-03-30_at_12.41.27_PM.png
    2. Click Create menu

Create a section

      1. Section name - sections will organize your menu items into groups to make browsing easier for your guests. These sections will be visible to your guests. Example: Appetizers.
      2. Description 
      3. Section limit
        • Unlimited - guests may select an unlimited amount of items from this section.
        • Limit one item per order - guests may select one of each item from this section, regardless of party size.
        • Limit one per person - guests may select one item in this section for each person in their party.
        • Custom limit - configure a minimum selection and a maximum selection.
        • Required selection - require guests to select an item from this section.
        • Require that All guests must select the same item
    2. Click Add Section when you've completed the fields above; click the X in the upper right hand corner to close the section detail view.Screen_Shot_2021-03-30_at_12.58.40_PM.png

Create an item 

    1. After you've added a section, click Add items

        1. Menu section - select which section you want the item to belong to
        2. Name and Display name - if you want to name the item something different than the name you want your guests to see, you can use both Name and Display name. When both fields are filled out, Display name is what will display to guests. If you don't want a different name to display to guests, you can just fill out Name. When only Name is filled out, that is what guests will see.
        3. Upload an image
        4. Category - this is an optional field that you can configure for reporting purposes. Guests won't see this value. Examples could be 'Appetizers', 'Food', 'Alcohol'.
        5. Description
        6. Chit name - you can configure a unique value for this item that will print on chits.
        7. SKU
        8. Price & Tax details - add the price of your item.
        9. Age restriction - you can restrict an item to only be purchased by guests over a specified age.

    2. You are also able to duplicate an item. This will allow you to modify certain pieces of information while keeping others the same without recreating items from scratch (i.e. a 6oz filet mignon vs an 8oz filet mignon).Screen_Shot_2022-04-11_at_1.50.15_PM.png

Create a modifier

Once you've created an item, you can create a modifier to link to that item. A modifier consists of options that allow guests to customize items. An example of a modifier could be "Steak temperature", with the options being "Rare", "Medium Rare", etc.

  1. Once you've added your item, scroll to Item modifiers and click on the pencil icon Screen_Shot_2021-03-30_at_2.10.05_PM.png
    1. Select Create new modifier
      1. Modifier name and Display name - if you want to name the modifier group something different than the name you want your guests to see, you can use both Modifier name and Display name. When both fields are filled out, Display name is what will display to guests. If you don't want a different name to display to guests, you can just fill out Modifier name. When only Group name is filled out, that is what guests will see.
      2. You can make the modifier group be required for guests to select from

        2. Within a Modifier, you can create a modifier option based off an existing menu item if you'd like to share stock limits between the item and the modifier. If the modifier option is independent of your items, select Add new option Screen_Shot_2021-03-30_at_2.14.27_PM.png
            1. Option name - this is the name guests will see when selecting from the modifier group
            2. Chit name - configure a chit name if you want a unique name to print on your chit
            3. Category - this is an optional field that you can configure for reporting purposes. Guests won't see this value. Examples could be 'Appetizers', 'Food', 'Alcohol'.
            4. Price

          1. Click Save option

Sections, items and modifiers are the basic building blocks of a menu. From here, there's additional information you can add as needed.
