Default Functionality
Once your POS integration setup and configuration is completed, with the integration activated, but with all optional configuration “off,” the following functionality is expected. See the video provided in the Micros POS Integrations Overview article for a quick demonstration of the integration’s functionality, including optional features.
Check matching
When a party is seated in Tock, the integration will look to receive notice of a new POS check that has been manually opened on the same table. This may not happen immediately after seating the party. The primary fields check matching is based on are the table name and number of guests.
Once a check has been matched to a Tock party, the POS check will display under the Tock booking’s “Check” tab.
To maintain historical data from the POS checks within Tock, review the Tock Operations Point of Sale report and manually link any unmatched POS checks. This will allow for reference to the POS check for a guest’s past reservations.
Automatic party status updates
Once a POS check has been matched to a Tock booking, automatic party status updates in Tock are based on when the fired/sent items are added to the POS check. Items must be within a mapped menu category to trigger a status update in Tock.

Optional Functionality
Update your optional integration configuration from your Micros integration’s manage flow on the Dashboard Integrations page.
Auto-open checks
With this configuration option “on,” a POS check will automatically open for a party within <1 minute of seating in Tock. The POS check will have the guest name and number of guests included, and will open under the corresponding POS table (table names must match between Tock and the POS).
The integration will also attempt to open the POS check under the corresponding server, as assigned to that Tock table at the time of seating, and available in the POS. Tock server names must match POS employee names for this feature to be available.
When the auto-open checks feature is “on,” check matching is automatic, and you can expect to see the read-only POS check display and automated party status updates reflected in Tock immediately after seating. Changes to the POS check take ~3 minutes to reflect within Tock.
Push Tock payments to POS
With this configuration option “on,” any Tock prepayment for the corresponding booking appears on the POS check as a lump sum credit. This functionality relies on the creation of a “Tock” payment method at the time of integration setup. To learn more, view POS Integration Setup & Configuration
FAQ
What occurs when a POS check is lost for a seated party, even though items were already added to the auto-opened check?
If the POS check total exactly matches the Tock prepayment, the POS system automatically closes the check. Please reopen the POS check to add additional items or make other adjustments.
Why was a duplicate check created when an original check was manually created in the POS, but then the party was seated in Tock?
Servers should wait for the auto-opened check to appear in the POS before they start ringing in items for the party. If another check was manually created in the POS system, transfer the items from that check to the auto-opened check created via the integration.
We transferred items from the auto-opened POS check to a new manually opened POS check, and now the integration isn’t working.
Once the table is sat in Tock, unseating and reseating, or moving to a different table, will not result in a new POS check. Micros doesn’t allow table reassignment on an existing POS check.
Instead, you’ll need to manually create a new POS check and transfer all items from the original POS check to the new check. This will automatically close the original POS check, which will result in the Tock party showing with a “Paid” status (if automated party status updates are configured).
We recommend manually moving the party in Tock to the correct table and updating their status as appropriate. If the integration’s push payments feature is being utilized and the Tock payment hasn’t been pushed to the POS check prior to the items transfer to the new POS check, you’ll need to manually apply the Tock payment on the new POS check.
As a best practice, if guests commonly switch tables during the seating process, allow the guest to settle on their final table choice prior to seating them in Tock. This will avoid the need to execute the manual actions described above.
Why are multiple checks open on a table?
If team members aren’t fully closing out the POS check before seating a new party at the same Tock table, multiple checks may get assigned to a single table.
Why can’t items be voided on the POS check?
In cases where a Tock payment has already been added to the check, some POS systems will not allow void of any items. Please manually remove the Tock payment, adjust/void any items as needed, then manually re-add the Tock payment.
Alternately, items can be split to a separate POS check and voided there.
Where are the itemized charges in the POS after moving over full prepayments, including tax and service charge, in Tock?
Tock prepayments push to the POS as a lump sum credit. Any specific items pre-ordered on Tock will need to be manually rung into the POS. Ensure tax and service charge settings match between Tock and your POS whenever possible to make reconciliation between systems easier.
