There are two ways to book a reservation from your Tock Dashboard:

  • Directly on Timeline.
  • Using the blue Book reservation button.

This article explains how to book a reservation directly on Timeline with both Availability Planning and Blueprints reservation management.

Booking directly on Timeline with Availability Planning 

On dashboards using Availability Planning reservation management, Timeline shows an overview of existing bookings, table assignments, turn times, and blocks for each day. The grid format, with times on the top and tables on the left, provides a big picture overview of the day’s availability. Book on Timeline if you’d like to book a specific table, fulfill a waitlist request, or override a table block. 

 

To book a reservation directly on Timeline with Availability Planning:

  1. From the Reservations tab, click Timeline. Use the date picker to navigate to the desired date.
  2. Click directly on an available tile, then click Book reservation or Book on multiple tables
  3. If you click Book on multiple tables, click all of the tiles for the tables where the party will be assigned, then click the Book reservation button in the top-right. 
  4. Enter the guest's name, email, or phone number to search for an existing guest profile, or click + Add to create a new guest profile.
  5. Add or edit the guest and visit notes.
  6. If booking on behalf of a concierge or other third party, switch on the optional toggle to Add separate reservation owner.
  7. In the top-right, review the party size, date and time. Use the pencil icon to edit this information as needed.
  8. Click Continue to payment for prepaid and deposit bookings or Complete Reservation for free bookings.
  9. Select menu items or add-ons, if available, and add custom charges or discounts as needed.
  10. If a form of payment is due, choose for the guest to Pay now or Waive  or send them an Email invite or Text invite
    • To Pay now, enter the guest's credit card information towards the bottom of the screen.
    • If the guest will Waive, no payment is being collected at the time of booking. Payment will be collected at a later time or through other means outside of Tock.
    • If sending an Email invite or Text invite, set an expiration. Bookings will be held until the expiration, appearing as an orange tile on your Timeline until the guest finalizes the booking. Guests will be prompted to accept the invite and checkout online. Menu items or add-ons can be selected by the guest at checkout.
  11.  Click Complete reservation.

Booking directly on Timeline with Blueprints 

On dashboards using Blueprints reservation management, Timeline shows an overview of existing bookings, available slots, and holds for each day. Book on Timeline if you’d like to book a specific slot, fulfill a waitlist request, or override a hold. 

To book directly on Timeline with Blueprints:

  1. From the Reservations tab, click Timeline. Use the date picker to navigate to the desired date.
  2. Click an available tile, then click Modify in the bottom-left.
  3. In the pop-up window, click Book reservation.
  4. Enter the guest's name, email, or phone number to search for an existing guest profile, or click + Add to create a new guest profile.
  5. Add or edit the guest and visit notes.
  6. If booking on behalf of a concierge or other third party, switch on the optional toggle to Add separate reservation owner.
  7. In the top-right, review the party size, date and time. Use the pencil icon to edit this information as needed.
  8. Click Continue to payment for prepaid and deposit bookings or Complete Reservation for free bookings.
  9. Select menu items or add-ons, if available, and add custom charges or discounts as needed.
  10. If a form of payment is due, choose for the guest to Pay now or Waive, or send them an Email invite or Text invite
    • To Pay now, enter the guest's credit card information towards the bottom of the screen.
    • If the guest will Waive, no payment is being collected at the time of booking. Payment will be collected at a later time or through other means outside of Tock.
